Legal and compliance Records refer to documents that are required by law, e.g., method statements to comply with H&S requirements, and evidence of complying with planning and environmental restrictions.

I do not understand fully what you mean by “Information necessary to support the operation of QMS processes”. Will you please explain with some examples?

Information to support the operations of QMS processes might include Audit Reports, Corrective Reports, Nonconformity/defect reports, management review records, inspections and monitoring records. Use the Clause reference in the table to relate the document back to what the standard requires.

“Information necessary to support the operation of QMS processes” appears under both titles of “maintain” and “retain.” Is it by mistake? Or what?

You should maintain information to support the operation of QMS processes, keeping it live and accurate like a risk register and then retaining the risk register at the end of the project to evidence how risks were dealt with.

What do you mean by “Capturing knowledge within the organization, e.g., through mentoring, succession planning”?

Knowledge exists in skilled workers. More senior colleagues should be encouraged to transfer their knowledge and skills to other workers in order to improve their skills.

What do you mean by “Benchmarking Against Competitors”?

Find out what other construction companies are doing and measure your QMS performance against theirs. Share knowledge with others to get ideas for improvement.

You should evaluate the QMS's performance and effectiveness by internal auditing, reviewing performance indicators and taking corrective action when performance decreases.

What is a Nonconforming Product?
