ISO 1400 Clause 7 – Support

The company should be providing the needed resources in order to establish, maintain, implement and continually improve the EMS.

Clause 7 is the largest of the ISO 14001 requirements, it covers many different aspects of of the EMS. Under clause 7, there are five sub-clauses:

• 7.1 Resources
• 7.2 Competence
• 7.3 Awareness
• 7.4 Communication
• 7.5 Documented Information

Under this clause, the company will determine the necessary competence of its personnel, especially those whose work affects environmental performances.

It is the company's responsibility to ensure proper training is given to ensure that all personnel are suitably aware and trained in:

• All aspects of their duties, responsibilities and job functions
• The EMS
• That compliance obligations are met, and
• The requirements of ISO 14001:2015
